Remotely readable meters – obligation from 1 Jan 2027

Act No. 406/2000 Coll. sets the obligation for remotely readable heat/DHW meters and the deadline of 1 Jan 2027 for existing installations.

Legal basis

  • Section 7(11): newly installed meters and devices registering heat delivery must be remotely readable; existing installations must be updated by 1 Jan 2027.
  • Section 7(12): remote reading means no apartment access; devices must allow at least monthly remote reading.
  • Decree No. 207/2021 Coll. governs billing information; with remote data transfer, information is provided at least monthly (e.g., Section 18a(3)).

We use LoRaWAN technology, which works without an Internet connection. However, the Gateway requires Internet. In case of its unavailability, a SIM card can be used.
